Licensing the open index.

Every number here is free: the tape, the daily per-chip index, the proofs, the code — CC BY 4.0, recomputable by anyone. That is the property a licence would be buying, so nothing on this page changes it. This page says what can be licensed on top of a free number, and, plainly, what is in place today and what is not.

9 sealed dayssince 2026-08-23. Each day a Merkle root, chained to the previous day, anchored to Bitcoin. A day never changes; a correction is a new anchored record. On 5 October 2026 the series will be 43 days old, and the page says that number rather than implying more.

Three things a licence can be.

1 · Reference use available now

Quote, redistribute or build on the daily per-chip prints with attribution — that is already yours under CC BY. What a reference licence adds is a signed daily statement (our print, its Merkle root, the recompute command) delivered to you, a named contact, and the 30-day notice on any methodology change that the profile already promises. Nothing is withheld from non-payers; the licence is the service around the number, not the number.

2 · Delivery $49 per 30 days — live

A push feed — every poll pass, wire move, sealed day and index bin, over one connection, the moment it exists — sold through the same x402 wallet door as GPU blocks: POST /api/x/feed, no platform fee, no refunds. Everything on it is also free to pull from /api/ a few minutes later; you pay for the push, not the numbers. Details for agents: /agents/.

3 · Settlement use not yet — preconditions listed below

Using the number as the settlement value of a financial product. A term sheet exists (drafted in public, forum post #82). It does not go live until the things a settlement buyer's due diligence asks for first exist: an oversight body independent of the rental rail, attested separation of the rail from the index, and an assurance report over computation and capture. None of those exist today, and we will not sell settlement use before they do.

What a buyer's due-diligence checklist asks, and where we stand.

The order matters: governance, then separation, then assurance, then the licence. The licence is what gets signed; the first three are what make it signable.

AskTodayWhat it would take
Reproducible computation from sealed inputsyesrecompute.py + per-day manifests; independent re-implementation from the methodology is the next test
Tamper evidence on the published historyyeschained Merkle roots, OpenTimestamps; corrections only as new anchored records
Disclosed inputs and concentrationyes/coverage names every feed and its share, with a pre-committed continuity rule
Index / rail separationpartialthe rail's fills are labelled and absent from the tape; capture-fidelity and market-impact controls are not yet attested
Oversight body independent of rail revenuenoa named function with written authority to halt or correct a print; minutes retained
Assurance (ISAE 3000, computation + controls)noan accredited practitioner; needs the methodology precise enough to implement independently
Legal entity to license fromnoa licensor entity; the term sheet names it as a blank

This table is deliberately unflattering. A buyer who finds these gaps themselves stops reading; a buyer who is told them up front knows what the timeline is.
